Welcome to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R – Heart of the Oasis Blog!

Here you can follow our progress on the short film. We will be posting behind the scenes content (as well as many other awesome things related to the film) for your enjoyment up until the final production later this year (2010).

This November we will start shooting principal photography for the 10 minute (or so) film and soon after wrapping up with post production.

Feel free to comment and let us know what what YOU GUYS think!

Origins of the HTO producution

Earlier this semester our buddy Mark Farmer approached us with the idea of producing a side film project. After a couple sit downs, we all agreed upon pulling our collective resources to create a film based in the fictional world of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game series and also pay homage to the 1979 Andrei Tarkovsky Stalker (Сталкер) film.

And so our adventure was underway.

The crew consists of: Jeremy Bernstein (Producer), Ryan Knudsen (Director), Mark Farmer (DP), & Eric Geusz (VFX).

Ryan: “Being a fan of S.T.A.L.K.E.R  I was totally pumped to get started on the project. A lot of our pre-production consisted of backtracking through stalker lore. In the process I sort of became the teams historian on the subject matter… We all wanted to have as much attention to detail as possible. Its the fans that matter, so we knew the little things would make all the difference later on.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. here are a couple links to get you started:

Now we are entering into the second half of the semester after having spent countless hours scrounging the flea market and various other surplus vendors constructing costumes. Reworking the script became a weekly occurence when we met up, spending every saturday on the project. More days when our schedules allowed for it.

Get a look-see at the crew and our fall guy Jeremy pulling off some sweet cable stunts!

We are all incredibly grateful to the team of the Albuquerque Stunt Association for their invaluable assistance in producing these shots. You guys rule!
